Home Communion

An example of the home communion kit used by the Lay Eucharistic Visitors of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

As Father Daniel said in a recent sermon, “St. John’s is not a ‘me’ church.” It is a church that reaches out to all people in the name of Jesus Christ. An excellent example of this statement is the active Eucharistic Visitor Ministry that is in place in our church. On a monthly basis, trained Eucharistic visitors take communion from our Sunday altar to those members who are not able to come to church. We generally have between twenty and twenty-five parishioners whom we visit each month! This is an vital service that brings our church to those who are home bound or hospitalized. We bring the church to them. If anyone is interesting in finding out more about this ministry or in becoming one of the volunteers, please contact our offices.
