rosien towersHere we are, in the “Advent” of our Christmas Outreach Basket project!  Five more Sunday’s to collect the contents until our delivery day on Monday, December 15th! That is an exciting morning at Rosien Towers, for residents who are part of our church neighborhood.

Just a block past the Courthouse, the towers were built by the Saginaw Housing Commission in 1970 for  low to middle income seniors and disabled adults; some residents have lived there nearly all that time. There are 12 floors and 109 units and when the parishioners of St John’s arrive with Christmas Baskets, we really tie up the elevators!

Atonya Patterson is the property manager. She said the residents have become like family, playing bingo and cooking breakfast and lunch together.  This is our eighth year of delivering the baskets and the buzz builds in the community kitchen as our delivery date draws near! The residents of Rosien, like the parishioners of St John’s, look forward to our Outreach. What a Christmas blessing!
