VISION PROCESS UPDATE

The vision process continues with twice a month meetings.  The second Sunday of the month is devoted to presentations by Christine Reinhart, and so far, we have looked at gathering spaces, baptisms, and the Eucharist.  These presentations are designed to show us some of the history connected with these topics, as well as how some churches are utilizing their spaces to reflect their values.  The second meeting is the following Wednesday, after the 6 pm Eucharist.  In this meeting, we look at what stood out from Christine’s presentation, and then “play” with the ideas in relation to St. John’s. So far, we have had good numbers for each event, but more are always welcome.  The discussions are lively, and the conversation gets animated at times, but we are making some headway in terms of seeing the need to clarify our identity.  Who are we at St. John’s and what is our purpose? The questions are harder than one would imagine, but well worth our time and effort.  This is an intense and extensive process, as we are discussing something of great value to us all—St. John’s Episcopal Church and what it means to be St. John’s today.  Please give any feedback you might have to any of the vestry members, to Darren+, or members of the Vision Team.  Make your opinions known before the decisions get made!  Better yet, become a team member.  Christine’s written presentation is available on our website, along with other information about the Vision process.

December 10, 2006, will be the date for the next presentation by Christine Reinhart.    This month we turn our attention to symbols and the placement of music/musicians.  How do we live into the symbols of our faith tradition?  How are symbols reflected in our architecture?  How does the placement of music and musicians affect our symbols?  Please join us for Christine’s presentation after our pot-luck luncheon on December 10th If your last name begins with A-M please bring a dessert, if it begins with N-Z please bring a salad or side dish.
