Outreach at St. John's
|
To Feed

St. John's provides a bag lunch program Mon-Thurs from 9:00am-12:00pm.
The numbers of bag lunches continues to grow as the need of
assistance in our community grows. This program would not be
possible without the continued prayerful support, commitment, and
generosity of our parishioners.
St. Paul's
Thank you
to Bob Hastings for his coordination as well as to all
who helped earlier this summer with
Bread for the World’s
“2006
Offering of Letters”
program, writing and urging our legislators to vote for
legislation that helps relieve human suffering. More
than simply money, this offering is about our time,
talent, and commitment to the call of our Baptismal
Covenant “to seek and serve Christ in all persons,
loving our neighbors as ourselves and striving for
justice and peace among all people, respecting the
dignity of every human being.” Your voice counts and
your few moments along with 39 cents went a long way in
support of this important advocacy work. If you would
like to learn how you can be more involved, contact the
parish office at 793-9575 or by email at

What a Difference a Day Can Make!
Saginaw Habitat for Humanity’s 2006 Blitz Build
 |
At 7am the weather was
already 75° and sunny – it was clearly going
to be a hot summer day; but that did not
deter our dedicated team one bit! Twelve
people from St. John’s came together to help
with this year’s Blitz work day, including:
Tanya Aide, Steve Birchmeier, Heather de
Bari, Drew Downs, Darren Elin, Jane Girdham,
Kathy Haddrill, Bob Hastings, Michele
Hoeppner, Michael Keenan, Jerry Lockhart,
and Jan Young. St. John’s is a supporting
partner for House #132 (located on S. 15th
street) – as part of the effort by Church
Workers United with African American
Christian Unity. We had a single task for
the day: paint the house – the entire
interior! In a single day, our team was
able to clean, prep., prime and apply the
finishing coat to the whole house. Way to
go team! Later on in the week, the five new
homeowner families received their
housewarming gift baskets from St. John’s
that were put together by our Vacation Bible
School.
